From 29 September to 1 October 2025, the Grimaldi Forum hosted the 37th edition of Luxe Pack Monaco, one of the leading international trade fairs dedicated to luxury packaging, where more than 450 exhibitors representing 30 countries, 70 of them for the first time, presented innovations aimed at making every single pack an increasingly experiential, intelligent and sustainable object.
It was precisely the concept of sustainability that played even more of a starring role as the leitmotif of the new edition, starting from the assumption that beauty is no longer enough, as it must also be responsible, and in this sense many innovations were presented such as ultra-light glass bottles or single-material airless refills, all designed with the intention of reducing environmental impact without sacrificing aesthetics, through a concept of circular eco-design that dominated the scene, bringing to light projects that combined engineering, art and technology.
Italy has distinguished itself for elegance and technical ability, confirming how Italian companies continue to play a leading role at the top end of world luxury packaging, thanks to their unique combination of design, savoir-faire and green vision, and it is no coincidence that many French and Swiss maisons entrust Italian manufacturers with the production of their limited edition lines.
Alongside an increasingly sophisticated design linked to the ecosystem, the concept of connection, through NFC labels, dynamic QR codes, blockchain traceability and interactive packaging, emerged in an increasingly important way, all with a view to definitively bringing luxury into the digital era and enabling the consumer to dialogue with manufacturers via smartphone, guaranteeing authenticity and immersive storytelling.
Sustainability and connection must not, of course, cancel out or put emotion in second place, and so there were many new proposals related to materials, such as velvety textures, metallic finishes and magnetic closures to confirm that packaging remains a sensorial gesture, capable of conveying emotion and belonging.
The 2025 edition also celebrated the best eco-responsible innovations, with Aptar Beauty winning the “committed company” award with its Future Pump airless pump, which is completely recyclable, Favini winning the “responsible design” category with its Crush Citrus paper made from Italian citrus waste, and Quadpack receiving a “special mention” for its modular packaging made from wood sourced from sustainable forests.
Luxe Pack Monaco has therefore confirmed itself as a privileged observatory of global transformations as European regulations (PPWR), new materials and the demand for authenticity impose a revolution in the way luxury is conceived. By now, packaging, with particular reference to the luxury sector, is no longer a dress for the product but a declaration of intent, a bridge between ethics and aesthetics and, once again, Italy seems to be leading this new path with creativity, technical rigour and conscious beauty.
